About the Board

The Milan Public Library Board is is comprised of 6 members. Members of the Library’s Board of Trustees serve to oversee the policy, planning, fiscal and advocacy aspects of the Milan Public Library. The Board meets every other month and is a committed, collegial group. Board members are elected to six year terms.

Board Vacancy

The Milan Public Library is seeking a resident to fill a vacancy on the Library Board of Trustees until December 31, 2028.

This is an unpaid position.

Candidates must be a City of Milan resident and a registered voter.

Preference will be given to candidates who can serve as treasurer. Milan Public Library has a controller and bookkeeper; the Board Treasurer position is mainly an oversight of the library’s finances.

Please review the treasurer position description:

Review financials monthly & discuss at bi-monthly board meetings
Become a signer on the bank checking account and be a second signatory on any checks
Do bank reconciliations and respond to bookkeeper with approval
Work with director, bookkeeper and controller on the annual budget
Work, if needed, with the annual audit

Applicants should plan to attend the Tuesday, June 23 board meeting.
