Library Cards

Getting a Library Card

 You may get a free library card from our library if you are at least 4 years old and

  • live in the city of Milan
  • live in Augusta Township
  • live in the part of Pittsfield Township that is in Milan Area Schools district
  • live in the part of York Township that is in Milan Area Schools district
  • own property in Milan 
  • work full-time in Milan


Student Library Cards

Students (4 years and older) who do not live in our service area but are enrolled in Milan Area Schools are eligible for a free student library card at our library.


Educator Library Cards

Educators (teachers, teaching assistants, school administrators, daycare providers) working in our service area are eligible for an Educator Library Card. Details and the application are here.


MiLibraryCard 

Individuals outside of these categories may use a library card from another MiLibraryCard participating library with a MILibraryCard sticker on it.


Additional option

If none of the above apply, you can purchase an annual family library card for $100/year.

Applying for a Library Card


You can apply for a library card in-person at the library or online through the links below. A parent or legal guardian must complete the application for a minor's library card. 


Apply for (or renew) an ADULT library card (age 18+) HERE*


Apply for (or renew) a library card for a MINOR (ages 4-17) HERE*

(Must be completed by a parent or legal guardian)


*For any application, please also submit a scan or photo of both sides of Driver's License or State ID and email to milancirc@gmail.com . 


Please allow 2 business days for your library card application to be processed.  We will email you when your card is ready or if we need additional information from you.  


Library resources


You can use your library card to check out books, audiobooks, DVDs, magazines, music CDs, puzzles, STEAM kits, games, Library of Things items, and more.  


You can also check out Michigan Activity Passes for free or discounted admission to participating museums, parks, and other entities.

Your library card also gives you access to a variety of online resources:

Libby/Overdrive - eBooks, audiobooks, and magazines

Tutor.com - academic help, test prep, job application help (resumes, cover letters)

Consumer Reports - online access

Mango Languages - learn a new language
